Dilip Buildcon Launches Girders for Indore Metro over Railway Tracks

Working under a tight 3 hour window, workers from Dilip Buildcon (DBL) on early Saturday morning launched four 36m long steel composite girders for Indore Metro’s 33.53 km Yellow Line over the Western Railways’ tracks in MR-10 neighborhood.

The feat was accomplished between piers P11-P12 at Km. 72/01 & 72/00 located just north of the ISBT Metro Station (view on Google Maps) on the north-side of Indore Metro Phase 1 project‘s ring line which will connect Palasia – Railway Station – Rajwara- Airport – Bhawarsala via 30 stations.

Launching works over 2 set of tracks started at 12:15 am and ended around 2 am, well inside the 3 hour mega railway block that was scheduled to end at 3 am.

Dilip Buidcon was awarded Indore Metro’s first civil contract in October 2018, with a value of Rs. 228.96 crore, to construct 5.29 km Package-02A/01’s viaduct between ISBT/MR10 Flyover and Mumtaj Bag Colony. It came with a 27 month construction deadline and we’re currently 65 months in, so this package’s construction is running terribly behind schedule.

Eight stations within this section are under construction by URC Constructions (sub-contract of RVNL) at ISBT / MR 10 Flyover, Chandragupta Square, Hira Nagar, Bapat Square, Meghdoot Garden, Vijay Nagar Square, Radisson Square, and Mumtaj Bag Colony.

Mumbai metro line 12’s piling has now started. Hopefully there’s no protests and line 5B can start tunneling soon, so that the whole Orange line (5A+5B+12) can be done by 2030
