Ranjit Buildcon Wins Bhubaneswar Metro Package BBC-04’s Contract

August 19, 2024 Update: DMRC has issued LOA to Ranjit Buildcon with a contract value of Rs. 625.62 crore.

August 7, 2024 Original Post: After winning Package BBC-03‘s contract last week, Ranjit Buildcon Ltd. (RBL) was today declared as the lowest bidder to construct Package BBC-04 of Bhubaneswar Metro’s Phase 1 project which will connect Trisulia Square – Biju Patnaik Airport via 20 elevated stations.

7.27 km long Package BBC-04, located in the middle of Bhubaneswar Metro’s 26 km Line-1, will link Acharya Square and KIIT Square via 7 elevated stations at  Jayadev Vihar Square, Xavier Square, Rail Sadan, District Centre, Damana Square, Patia Square and KIIT Square.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had invited bids for its construction in March 2024 with a Rs. 664.06 crore estimate and 36 month deadline. Technical bids were opened on June 19 to reveal 11 bidders – all of whom passed technical evaluation.

DMRC’s Brief Scope: Part Design and Construction of Elevated Viaduct and Seven Elevated Stations viz. Jayadev Vihar Square, Xavier Square, Rail Sadan, District Centre, Damana Square, Patia Square and KIIT Square (excluding Architectural finishing) from Chainage 7747.00 to 15017.00 of Bhubaneswar Metro Phase-I MRTS

Ranjit Buildcon’s bid of Rs. 625.62 crore was 5.79% lower than DMRC’s estimate of Rs. 664.06 crore, so a contract should be awarded in the coming days without a long financial bid evaluation period.

With today’s development, financial bids for all main-line civil packages have been opened: BBC-03 (won by Ranjit Buildcon), BBC-04 (Ranjit Buildcon) and BBC-05 (Ceigall India). Just the award of contracts (LOA) is now pending.

I expect basic pre-construction ground work to begin by the end of September and full-fledged construction to start in the middle of Q4 in November-December.
