Epitome Wins Lucknow Metro Line-2’s Topographical Survey Contract
November 26, 2024 Update: UPMRC has awarded Epitome Geotechnical Services with a Rs. 12,87,921 contract.
October 21, 2024 Original Post: Epitome Geotechnical Services was today declared as the lowest bidder to conduct a detailed topographical survey for 11.165 km Lucknow Metro Line-2 (Phase 1B) project by Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC).
This low-value surveying contract, under Package LKTS-01, is the very first contract for developing Lucknow Metro’s east-west Line-2 which will run through old Lucknow and connect Charbagh Railway Station – Vasant Kunj via 12 stations.
Per Phase 1B’s Detailed Project Report (DPR), Line-2 will have an approximate elevated length of 4.286 km with 5 stations between Vasant Kunj – Thakurganj, and an underground length of 6.879 km with 7 stations between Charbagh – Niwazganj.
UPMRC had invited bids for Package LKTS-01 in July-end with a Rs. 24.32 lakh estimate and 3 month completion deadline. Technical bids were opened in August-end to reveal 14 bidders. Out of those 9 firms’ bids didn’t meet the tender’s conditions and were disqualified.
Financial Bid Values
Firm | Bid (Rs. Lakh) |
Epitome Geotechnical Services | 12.87 |
Mapage Infrastructure | 16.46 |
RK Surveyors and Infratech | 17.46 |
SS Solution | 19.39 |
Drogo Drones | 19.49 |
UPMRC’s Brief Scope: Detailed Topographical Survey of East-West Corridor (Charbagh to Vasantkunj) including Depot at Hardoi Road and Alignment Design of Main Line and Depot Entry-Exit Line for Lucknow Metro Rail Project Phase 1B.
Epitome’s bid of Rs. 12.87 lakh was roughly half of UPMRC’s estimate, so a contract should be awarded in the coming weeks without a long financial bid evaluation period.
Earlier this month UPMRC received 11 bids for Line-2’s geotechnical contract, and technical bid evaluation is currently underway. The final reports from both investigations will be included in the civil construction tender documents to assist bidders with calculating & submitting more informed bids and use appropriate machinery, methods & technology during construction.
Both investigations are one of the several steps UPMRC has to take prior to construction which I envision will not start until at least Q4 2025.
