5 Bidders for Patna Metro Priority Corridor’s Track Work Contract PT-09
Five firms have submitted bids to install ballastless standard gauge tracks on Patna Metro Phase 1’s Priority Corridor after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) opened technical bids in December 2024.
Patna Metro’s Priority Corridor on Line-2 is 6.107 km long and connects Malahi Pakri – New ISBT via 5 elevated stations Malahi Pakri, Khemni Chak, Bhootnath, Zero Mile and New ISBT. This will be the first section of the entire project to open up – and its civil construction contract under Package PC-01 was awarded to NCC Ltd. way back in September 2020 with a 30 month deadline.
DMRC had invited bids for their track-work contract in November 2024 with Rs. 24.89 crore estimate and 180 day. Technical bids were opened on December 31 to reveal the following 5 bidders.
PT-09’s Bidders
- Apurvakriti Infrastruc Pvt Ltd
- Paras Railtech Pvt. Ltd.
- Pee Pee Mandal Projects Pvt. Ltd.
- Rahee Infratech Ltd.
- Texmaco Rail and Engineering Ltd.
DMRC’s Brief Scope: Installation of Ballastless Track including Supply of Buffer Stop and others for Priority Corridor (Malahi Pakhri to New ISBT) for Patna Metro Rail Project.
All 5 bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor for this package.
This is Phase 1’s fourth track-related package so far. Here’s the status of each:
Package & Scope | Status |
PT-4R: Design, manufacturing & supply of UIC-60 Turnouts & Scissor Crossover | Awarded to Voestalpine VAE VKN India |
PT-7R: Manufacturing & Supply of 1200 MT 90 UTS, UIC 60, 13 m, Class A 880 Grade Rails, IRS-T-12-2009 for New ISBT Patna Depot | Awarded to Steel Authority of India (SAIL) |
PT-8R: Standard gauge track work (Ballasted, Embedded and Column lines) at New ISBT Depot | Awarded to S.C. Agarwal |
PT-09: Ballastless Track including Supply of Buffer Stop and others for Priority Corridor | 5 bids submitted (this post!) |
As shared in the past – a tender notice is still pending for Patna Metro’s rolling stock & signaling contract (JICA-financed) which has and will continue to severely delay the opening of the project’s Priority Corridor. Unless DMRC leases trains or brings them them in from Delhi Metro, which I hear might be a possibility, the way things are going I see commercial operations on Patna Metro starting no sooner than 2027.

I wonder, I am reading on Wikipedia that this line is supposed to open in 2025, but what about the trains? I have not heard any news about them, has there even been a bid to determine which manufacturer will make them?
