RVNL – URCC JV Begins Casting Segments for Indore Metro’s Package IN-04
Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. – URC Construction (RVNL – URCC) JV this weekend began pouring concrete to cast their first box segment for 5.2 km Package IN-04 of the 33.53 km Indore Metro Phase 1 project.
Indore Metro’s Package IN-04 will connect Shaheed Bagh and Palasia Chauraha via 5 elevated stations on the eastern side of the city at Shaheed Bagh (earlier Mumtaj Bagh Colony), Khajrana Chauraha, Bengali Chauraha, Patrakar Colony and Palasia Chauraha.
Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MPMRCL) had awarded its Rs. 543 crore contract to RVNL – URCC JV in March 2024.
Each segment cast by RVNL – URCC JV will be 8.5m wide and 2.1m tall. By back of the hand calculations, I estimate ~1400 segments will be cast at their yard located in Limboda Gari village (view on Google Maps) and launched to form IN-04’s viaduct. If someone associated with the project has the exact numbers, then leave a comment below.
Per MPMRCL’s X post, MPMRCL officials along with representatives from General Consultants (GC) and contractors were present for the casting event.
This package is the 4th civil package on the main-line and the 5th overall (counting Gandhi Nagar Depot) to get going for Indore Metro’s Yellow Line which will eventually form a ring line connecting Palasia – Railway Station – Rajwara- Airport – Bhawarsala via 30 elevated & underground stations.
Technical bid evaluation is still underway for the line’s 8.626 km underground section – Package IN-05R, so at this time I see Phase 1 getting completed no sooner than 2029. See a list of all Indore Metro packages and their status / contractors over here.
