Delhi Metro Phase 4 DC-01’s Final U-Girder Launched by CCECC – KEC JV
China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation – KEC International (CCECC – KEC) JV this week celebrated launching their final of 514 U-girders for Package DC-01 of Delhi Metro’s Line-8 (Magenta Line) extension project.
8.8 km Package DC-01 of the Delhi Metro Phase 4 project connects Mangolpuri – Haiderpur-Badli Mor in north-west Delhi via 7 elevated stations. This package combined with other civil packages – DC-01A, DC-03R, DC-05 and DC-06 will form a 28.92 km extension of Line-8 from Janakpuri West towards RK Ashram through 22 new stations.
CCECC – KEC JV had launched their first 165 ton & 28m long U-girder in November 2020 along Mangolpuri Flyover. This week’s final launch was recorded on top of piers P237-P239 at Madhuban Chowk along the Outer Ring Road.

Package DC-01 was originally designed to be 12.375 km long connecting Krishna Park Extension Ramp to Haiderpur-Badli Mor Station. Its Rs. 956.86 crore contract was awarded to CCECC – KEC JV in November 2019 with a tight 30 month construction deadline.
Construction work was launched in December 2019 wherever a clear right-of-way was available, but portions of the Krishna Park Extension Ramp – Mangolpuri section were held up for years due to pending permission approvals to cut trees enroute. After negotiations between CCECC – KEC and DMRC, this section was offloaded from DC-01’s scope and spun off into its own separate package (DC-01A) which was awarded to H.G. Infra Engineering (HGIEL) in January 2023.

DMRC on X today posted a cool photo of the Magenta Line’s 52.28m steel girders over the Indian Railways’ Delhi-Ambala line at Haiderpur Badli Mor (view on Google Maps). These girders at a height of 27.61m are flanked by the Yellow Line’s girders from Phase 3’s Package CC-02 at a lower level.
