Simplex Lowest Bidder for Pune Metro’s Vanaz – Civil Court Section
That was extremely quick!
Simplex Infrastructures Ltd. has emerged as the lowest bidder for constructing Pune Metro project’s 2nd section, a 7.150 km elevated viaduct between Vanaz and Civil Court in western Pune, after officials from the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) opened the financial bids submitted by different civil infrastructure companies.
Maha Metro invited bids for this package, P1C-02, located on the 14.665 km Vanaz – Ramwadi east-west line on April 7 2017, and estimated its construction to cost Rs 300 crores. Here are the financial bid values submitted by 3 of the lowest, technically qualified, bidders:
Firm | Bid |
Simplex | Rs. 348.30 cr |
NCC | Rs. 373.36 cr |
Afcons | Rs. 382.50 cr |
The project’s alignment was recently revised in central Pune – see the new official map here. In the coming months, MahaMetro will invite separate bids for the construction of 7 stations on this section which will be located at Vanaz, Anand Nagar, Ideal Colony, Nal Stop, Garware College, Deccan Gymkhana, Sambhaji Park:
If no issues arise, then Simplex will go on to be awarded with the project’s 2 major civil contract – see list of contractors.
With this development, preliminary utility shifting and barricading works along the line’s route can be expected to start in July-August.

Good move! Pune needs this! And will surely help its citizens to escape the chaos on roads (from my limited experience of public transports and shared autos in Pune).
So they took less than 50 days to evaluate and find out the lowest bidder? That must be a new record. I’m loving it.
Yup, only 50 days from notice inviting tenders to opening financial bids. I’m impressed!
Something to cheer about being a Puneite.Hope the project materializes and people maintain civic sense.
This news is yet to declare at official web site of Pune Metro Rail Project
Operators almost never reveal lowest bidder details. They report the contractor after it gets the contract.
When they will get contract officially?
Small delay. Simplex’s bid got rejected and MahaMetro has now re-invited bids – see details here
What about supervision consultant bid?
This is yet to finalize. How project should running fast?
A team from Nagpur Metro is helping them to prepare bids and carry out its evaluation.
