L&T Wins Chennai Metro Line-3’s Elevated OMR Section’s Work
Larsen & Toubro today emerged as the lowest bidder for constructing Chennai Metro Line-3’s first 10 km elevated package between Nehru Nagar – Sholinganallur after Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) opened financial bids for package C3-CP08-EV-01/RT-01.
This is a retender of the 118.9 km Chennai Metro Phase 2‘s Package CP08-EV-01 which received 3 bids in July 2021. The tender got cancelled in December 2021 due to a major redesign of the line from a double-decker viaduct for vehicles and metro trains to separate parallel structures.
The scope of this corridor includes an approximately 10 km viaduct starting from a ramp south of Taramani Link Road Station with 10 stations on Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR).
CMRL re-invited bids for its construction financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in December 2021 with a 36 month deadline and an unknown estimate. Technical bids were opened in February to reveal 6 bidders.

Like other Phase 2 packages, CMRL’s estimate for this is unknown, so I can’t provide an assessment on how L&T’s bid is placed and what the next steps look like.

Good CMRL
Oh again l&t!! That’s not surprising! But HCC KEC could have won cause they’re doing a great job!
Why not L&T? Just asking out of curiosity being an L&Tite.
As you see, for orange line 4, l&t and HCC KEC both started the work at the same time only, but within few months HCC KEC built numerous pillars and now they even started launching u girders. But l&t just now casted it’s pillars near saligramam and their work is too slow compared to HCC KEC. Even in red line 5, works are slower.
But other than that, we all know l&t is the best. The outcome will be more surprising!!
Wow.. with just a 70crore diff L&T captured 1000crore project.. Others just 3 crore difference from each other..
Why doubt?
L&T is most reputed in infrastructure building and above all I am informed L&T does not entertain any bribery .
This is a great point.
They have the wherewithal to mange huge projects.
L&T 👍Great Celebrate time
Why they not give chances to other Indian companies.
Will we get any metro station for Tambaram route?
The difference between L&T and the highest budder is 480 crores..just cant imagine how big the amount is.. best wishes to L&T on winning the bid
When’s the work expected to start in OMR? There’s no ground work happening here as part of corridor 3. However as part of corridor 5 work has started in perumbakkam and adjoining areas
How do you get this much detailed information?
