NCC & RVNL Bid for Bengaluru Suburban Rail’s Packages C4A & C4B

NCC Ltd. & Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) have each submitted two bids for the civil construction of 18 stations (Packages C4A & C4B) of the 149.35 km Bengaluru Suburban Rail project (BSRP).

Both packages on 46.88 km Corridor 4 (known as Kanaka Line) connecting Heelalige – Rajanukunte include the construction of a total of 2 elevated & 16 at-grade stations.

Karnataka’s Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE) had invited tenders for both contracts in July 2024 with a 2 year deadline. Technical bids were opened today to reveal NCC and RVNL had bid for both packages.

Package C4A

Estimate: Rs. 5,04,11,93,476 (Rs. 504.11 crore)

Package C4B

Estimate: Rs. 5,28,05,09,045 (Rs. 528.05 crore)

BSRP’s Line-4 and Bangalore Metro’s 56 km Blue Line in Phase 2B will share a roughly 500m common alignment between Benniganahalli and Channasandra.

All 4 bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor for each package.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in December 2023 was awarded a Rs. 1040.51 crore contract to construct the viaduct and at-grade embankments connecting these 18 stations. A list of all packages and their status can viewed here.

    TMRG, you are usually spot on with your ‘my estimated completion’ dates. Do you have any estimates for the suburban rail project?

      Hey, we’re easily 3 years out from seeing any section becoming operational. Rolling stock tender is being reworked right now from a lease to procurement model. Hopefully they publish its tender notice by year-end. Bids were just invited for tracks & head-hardened rails.

    Hi TMRG, I see Ambedkar nagar station in C4 is this near harvest school in Kodathi?
    I see work ongoing around the railway track, are they building a new station?
