L&T & Siemens Bid for Nagpur Metro Phase 2’s Telecom Contract TL-01

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Technology Services Ltd. and Siemens Ltd. have submitted bids for the telecommunications contract of Nagpur Metro’s 43.8 km Phase 2 project.

This telecommunications package TL-01 by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MMRCL or Maha-Metro) will be funded through a USD 200 Million (approximately Rs. 1678 crore) loan by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) which was approved in July 2024.

Maha-Metro had invited bids for Package TL-01 in June 2024 with an unknown estimate and 994 day (2.72 year) deadline. Technical bids were opened on Thursday to reveal L&T and Siemens were the only two bidders for its contract.

The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.

MMRCL has another ongoing ADB-approved tender for which bidding is underway. That’s for civil Package C-09 which includes the constructionn of 8 elevated metro stations at Ashokvan, Dongargaon, Mohgaon, Meghdoot, CIDCO Butibori Police Station, MHADA Colony, MIDC KEC and MIDC ESR in Reach1A.
