4 Bidders for Bengaluru Suburban Rail Corridor 1’s Civil Contract

Four firms have submitted bids for construction contract C1A of the 149.35 km Bengaluru Suburban Rail project (BSRP)’s 41.47 km Corridor 1 connecting KSR Bengaluru City – Yelahanka – Devanahalli.

This contract’s scope for Sampige Line or Line-1 involves construction of its 1st section (named Corridor 1A) between KSR Bengaluru City and Yelahanka. The assigned contractor will build a 14.213 km elevated viaduct with 5 elevated stations, 3.417 km at-grade section with 2 stations, and a rail overbridge (ROB).

Karnataka’s Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE) had invited tenders (bids) for this contract in July 2024 with a Rs. 1422.60 crore estimate and 2.5 construction year deadline. Technical bids were opened on Wednesdaya afternoon to reveal the following 4 bidders.

  • Ceigall India Ltd.
  • NCC Ltd.
  • Shankaranarayana Constructions Pvt. Ltd.

KRIDE’s Brief Scope: Design and Construction of Elevated Viaduct of Length 14.213 Km (Chainage -0/724 to 11/280 & 14/697 to 16/906, including Ramp), At-Grade formation of Length 3.417 Km (Chainage 11/280 to 14/697), construction of 7 stations building (At Grade – 02, Elevated – 05), 1 ROB and other Associated Works between KSR Bengaluru City to Yelahanka (17.630 Kms) of Corridor – 1 of Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project

All 4 bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.

This is the 5th civil contract to enter the technical bid evaluation stage. Two contracts have been awarded to Larsen & Toubro (C2 viaduct & C4 viaduct), while technical bid evaluation is currently underway for another two contracts (C4A & C4B stations).     Hope SNC wins this tender, just look at the gr8 job they have done in Namma Metro Phase 2A. I’m sure they will do gud job for BSRP.

    The overview page for suburban rail mentions that only about 8km is under construction. Is that correct? I thought civil work on 2 corridors was already underway.

    C2A station tender final evaluation opened. and C2B under technical evaluation.
    1080 and 880 grade tender opening on 11th Nov and 4th Nov.
    Signalling & Telecom tender invited on CPP portal.
    Soladevanahalli Depot tender also invited in CPP portal.

    SNC will do the work fast,They deserve to be encouraged.th NCC & Afcons are not upto the mark & take their own time,not bothered about time line & so on.

    SNC is the good Engineering construction company contributed their valuable support in Metro railway construction @Bangalore. They are good both in construction and project management.Also they will maintain time line.

    Why has L&T stopped bidding for Bengaluru Suburban Rail, and not bid for any of the new tenders?
