Siemens Wins Nagpur Metro Phase 2’s Telecom Contract TL-01
Siemens Ltd. in October-end was declared as the lowest bidder for the telecommunications contract of Nagpur Metro’s 43.8 km Phase 2 project by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MMRCL or Maha-Metro).
This systems contract under package TL-01 will be funded through a USD 200 Million (approximately Rs. 1678 crore) loan by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) which was approved in July 2024.
Maha-Metro had invited bids for its installation in June 2024 with an unknown estimate and 994 day (2.72 year) deadline. Technical bids were opened in September to reveal only two bidders – Siemens and Larsen & Toubro.
Financial Bid Values
Firm | Bid (Rs. Crore) |
Siemens Ltd. | 197.93 |
L&T Technology Services Ltd. | 204.93 |
Maha-Metro’s Brief Scope: Design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of telecommunication system for Nagpur Metro Rail Project, Phase-2.
Maha-Metro’s estimate is unknown to me so we’ll have to wait and see how this plays out.
MMRCL has another ongoing ADB-approved tender for which technical bids were opened today, and I hear there was only one bidder. More to come, but that’s for civil Package C-09 which includes the construction of 8 elevated metro stations at Ashokvan, Dongargaon, Mohgaon, Meghdoot, CIDCO Butibori Police Station, MHADA Colony, MIDC KEC and MIDC ESR in Reach-1A.
