KPC Wins Bengaluru Suburban Rail Soladevanahalli Depot’s Contract
KPC Projects Ltd. on Saturday was declared as the lowest bidder for the construction of Soladevanahalli Depot of the 149.35 km Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) by Karnataka’s Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE).
Soladevanahalli Depot will be used to stable & maintain trains on 24.866 km Corridor 2 (Mallige Line) which will connect Baiyyappanahalli Terminal – Chikkabanavara via 14 stations. This depot along with another depot at Akkupet (Devanahalli) will house the project’s rolling stock comprising of 51 trains (306 coaches).
The contract’s scope also includes construction of a 1 km at-grade section between Chikkabanavara Station and Soladevanahalli Depot.
K-RIDE had invited tenders (bids) for the depot’s civil construction contract in September 2024 with a Rs. 170.93 crore estimate and 24 month construction deadline. Technical bids were opened in December 2024 to reveal 2 bidders.
Financial Bid Values
Firm | Bid (Rs. Crore) |
KPC Projects Ltd. and | 209.72 |
URC Construction Pvt. Ltd. | 213.41 |
Tender No: K-RIDE/BSRP/DEPOT/SDHL/2024
KRIDE’s Brief Scope: Construction of Bangalore Suburban Railway Project (BSRP) Rolling Stock / Train Maintenance Depot with Administration & Workshop Buildings At Soladevanahalli (Chikkabanawara) including Civil, MEP, Roofing, Signage, Architectural Finishes, STP, External Drainage, Internal Roads, Boundary Wall, construction of At-Grade Formation of Length 1.00 Km (Approximately) and other Associated Works between Chikkabanavara Station to Soladevanahalli Depot of Bangalore Suburban Railway Project (BSRP).
KPC’s bid of Rs. 209.72 crore was 22.69% higher than KRIDE’s estimate of Rs. Rs. 170.93 crore, so this will head straight to the negotiation table which can take several months to conclude. If that fails, then this contract will have to be re-tendered out, which will consume more time and doesn’t necessarily guarantee a positive outcome.
A tender notice is currently pending for the construction of Akkupet (Devanahalli) Depot’s construction. A full list of the project’s packages and their current/contractors status can viewed here.

@TMRG, you say that the BSRP is 149.35 kms but the above Wikipedia article (continuously updated) says that it’s 160.457 kms. Which one is correct?
Hi, exact figure will emerge after all tender notices are published. Even then, things can possibly change during construction if the right-of-way isn’t available and KRIDE curtails scope.
