Brief Scope: Project Management Consultancy Services for Works of Signalling and Telecommunication System, SCADA System, and Ticketing System of Mumbai – Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project.

With this development, all major consultancy contracts have been awarded. Back in June 2021, Tata Consulting Engineers – Consulting Engineers Group – Aarvee Associates – PADECO Co. JV was awarded the PMC contract for civil construction works.
SYSTRA – DB Engineering JV will be working closely with DRA Infracon – Siemens JV to commission the line’s signaling and telecommunication (S&T) system which was awarded in June 2025.
All eyes, including mine, are on the line’s rolling stock. BEML is currently building two 8-coach train-sets to test and run up to speeds of 250 kmph. One of my sources indicates that preliminary design is complete while detailed design is underway. If India wants to launch services on August 15, 2027 then the prototype train must roll out by year-end for dynamic testing to start.
Back in April 2025, The Japan Times indicated that Japan plans to provide one train-set each from the E5 and E3 series to India by early 2026 as inspection vehicles, so hopefully we see some rumblings in the next few weeks by NHRSCL as and when they get dispatched.
