Information
43.8 km Nagpur Metro Phase 2 project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) was prepared by RITES and approved by the Maharashtra state government’s cabinet in January 2019 with an estimated cost of Rs. 5,976 crore.
In April 2023, Maharashtra government’s cabinet approved the project with a revised estimated cost of 6708 crore. The DPR’s approval has since then been pending on the Central Government’s cabinet for approval. The DPR document can be viewed on Maha-Metro’s website here.
Nagpur Metro Phase 2 will be financed by by Asian Development Bank (ADB) through a USD 200 Million (approximately Rs. 1678 crore) loan approved in July 2024. Additionally, the European Investment Bank (EIB) is currently evaluating another loan of €210.72 million (approx. Rs. 1943 crore).
Phase 2 project’s foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 11, 2022.

Nagpur Metro’s Phase 2 project aims to extend the two existing lines built in Phase 1 to Kanhan in the north, Butibori MIDC in the south, Transport Nagar (Kapsi) in the east and Hingna in the west. It comprises of a 1.2 km at-grade section with 2 stations and 42.6 km elevated sections with 30 stations
An additional 5th corridor is proposed to branch out from Line-2 at Vasudev Nagar towards Wadi, but has not been included in Phase 2’s official plan.

- Catchment Area: Mount View, Rajiv Nagar, Wanadongri, APMC, Raipur, Hingna Bus Station and Hinga
Line-2 (Aqua Line) – Reach 4A: Prajapati Square to Transport Nagar
- Length: 5.5 km
- Number of Stations: 3

Line-2 (Aqua Line) – Reach 5: Vasudev Nagar – Wadi
