Lucknow Metro’s Rolling Stock Contract Awarded to Alstom

Thanks to my follower @k4nh4 for pointing this breaking news. According to M Tariq Khan, a journalist with the Hindustan Times based in Lucknow, the rolling stock contract to supply 20 trainsets of 4 cars each has been awarded to Alstom. They put in a bid for Rs 1069 crores.

The tender for the rolling stock & signalling systems was released in December 2014 and in order to speed things up, the LMRC combined the tenders for both into one contract. Alstom’s signalling department will be taking care of the signalling component of the contract.

Update: The Daily Bhaskar has confirmed that Alstom has won the contract. I expect an official announcement to be made soon!

Update 2: Official announcement via a press release has been made! This makes Lucknow the third city in India after Chennai & Kochi to be supplied with Alstom’s rolling stock.
