CEG Wins Delhi – Dharuhera RRTS’ Geotechnical Contract in Gurgaon

CEG Test House and Research Centre on Thursday was declared as the lowest bidder for conducting geotechnical soil investigation work along the new alignment of the 164 km Delhi – Alwar RRTS (RapidX) line on NH-48 in Gurugram (Gurgaon).

This new semi high-speed line by National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) in its first phase was originally going to connect Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan and SNB (Shahjahanpur – Neemrana – Behrod) in Rajasthan. It will now instead terminate at Dharuhera within Haryana, covering a distance of 70.72 km with 13 stations.

The line was earlier going to pass through old Gurgaon with stations at Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon Sector 17 and Rajiv Chowk. It will now run along national highway 48 (NH-48) with stations at Cyber City (underground), IFFCO Chowk (elevated), Rajiv Chowk (underground) and Hero Honda Chowk (underground).

The scope of this geotechnical investigation contract is to study the soil’s profile along the line’s revised alignment between Aerocity and Kherki Daula along NH-48 and at the site of its train maintenance depot at Dharuhera.

NCRTC had invited bids for this contract in January 2024 with a 180 day deadline and an estimate I hear was around 2.98 crore. Technical bids were opened in February to reveal 9 bidders and financial bids of 7 qualified bidders were opened this Thursday.

Below I’ve shown values from the lowest 5 bidders.

Financial Bid Values

Cengrs Geotechnica2.53
Geomarine Dynamics India3.11

NCRTC’s Brief Scope: Detailed Geotechnical Investigation work for underground and elevated section on revised alignment between Aerocity to Kherkidaula and Dharuhera Depot of SKK (Sarai Kale Khan) – Dharuhera of Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor.

CEG’s bid of Rs. 2.20 crore was 26.10% lower than NCRTC’s estimate, so a contract should be awarded without a long financial bid evaluation period. This is their 3rd win for this line (see table below).

The results from CEG’s investigation will be included within the civil construction tender documents to help infrastructure companies make more informed financial bids and use appropriate machinery, methods & technology during construction.

This is NCRTC’s 5th geotechnical investigation contract for this line. Here’s a list of past contracts awarded, which I’ve covered on the Delhi – Alwar RRTS information page.

Geotechnical ScopeContractor
Sarai Kale Khan to IDPL Complex in GurgaonCEG Test House and Research Centre Pvt Ltd.
Rajiv Chowk to Kherki DaulaShree Balaji Test House Pvt. Ltd.
IDPL Complex in Gurgaon to DharuheraCEG Test House and Research Centre Pvt. Ltd.
Dharuhera to SNBRITES

Per NCRTC’s tender document, 48.35 km of the line’s route falls in Haryana & 22.37 km in Delhi. While almost the entire route length in Delhi is underground, the route in Haryana will mostly be elevated except 16.28 km underground.

In Haryana, the line will run elevated along NH-48 from Sector 25 to Rajiv Chowk, Kherki Daula to Manesar, and Panchgaon to Dharuhera. I’ve mapped the line’s indicative route and location of stations over here.

Will it be possible to make an interchange between this line and DMRC Yellow line? If IFFCO Chowk was underground, it would be possible.

    • TMRG says:

True. Yellow Line’s IFFCO Chowk is ~750m from NH-8 so it’ll be similar to Dhaula Kuan with one very long FOB, if they decide to pursue.

I think yellow line will instead connect with rapid x on hero honda chowk where they are planning to extend the metro towards old gurgaon.

But that extension beyond Huda City Centre is not of yellow line but a seperate line is being made. Although it should have been extension of yellow line only.

They should opt for both metro & rapidx for aerocity to manesar section atleast.

    Hi,

The RRTS Line will now terminate in Dharuhera, In Bhiwadi Master Plan 2009 RRTS Line is proposed to run from Dharuhera – Alwar via Bhiwadi Alwar Bypass Road.

After SNB Route being cancelled, will plan from Dharuhera – Alwar kick into action?

    • Akash says:

Well they should work on it as Indian railway is not focussing towards increased number of people travelling from Alwar to Gurgaon on daily basis.
It will reduce traffic as well as number of people staying in gurgaon causing high property value

Hello TMRG! What is your construction completion estimate for this line now? Your earlier estimate was 2028 which I am sure will change. Why is this line’s construction so terribly slow? Delhi-Meerut is already nearing completion and it is so well built and executed, from station design to trains to parking lots, everything screams quality. I wish this line was also constructed at a similar pace. I hope the route is final now.
