Interior Work Begins for Kochi’s Metro Stations
Starting with the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) station, Kochi Metro Rail Ltd.’s contractors have begun station interior works for the Kochi Metro!
Unlike other prominent stations on the 27 km line, design renderings of CUSAT’s interior design haven’t been revealed yet, but its design is ultimately supposed to reflect and showcase the city & state’s maritime/sea voyage history. That explains why they’ve chosen blue & white of all colors which has an uncanny resemblance to infrastructure in Kolkata! Let’s hold our judgments until the final product is ready though. 😀
Next month, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which had overseen the development of Kochi’s CUSAT & Kalamassery stations from design to bidding to construction, will hand over these two stations to the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd for their contractors to complete interior finishing works and make them launch ready. In the coming months, more stations will be handed over to the KMRL as soon as civil construction work is complete.
And here are some additional images in and around the station:
As a reminder, KMRL officials are now chasing an April 2017 deadline.
