Segment Launching Begins in Delhi over Noida Link Road & Blue Line

Following an approval from the PWD, ITD Cementation – the contractor for package CC-26 (Mayur Vihar – Karkarduma) of Delhi Metro’s Pink Line in mid November started launching precast segments over the Noida Link Road flyover and Blue Line an entire year after it began building the last of 4 piers to support it. This 126m section of Line-7 is 20m high and just one of the many last pending gaps that are slowly being plugged by contractors across the city to finish civil works on the 58.6 km Pink line between Mukundpur and Shiv Vihar.

Why do the spans look different in the first pic taken from the ground level?

That snap shows the exact point where 2 packages meet:

Left portion is part of package CC-03. Arvind Techno Engineers used steel girders to build the viaduct’s spans towards the Yamuna river.

Right portion is a part of package CC-26. ITD Cementation is using precast segments to build the viaduct’s spans towards Mayur Vihar. Once done, they’ll add a parapet/side wall.

In the ground-level photo that comes just after the map, what are the lower piers on the right [parallel to the highway] for? Is that another half-completed project?

That’s a new under construction flyover (elevated road over the intersection) for the northbound traffic. The piers’ construction was the sole reason why the DMRC had to wait for the Public Work Department (PWD)’s approval.

Exactly. and the “under construction flyover” is part of the Barapullah Phase III project, built by L&T, which when completed (2018) will connect INA to Mayur Vihar Phase 1.

You’re right and I’ve mentioned that in the post.

I can’t always post news as it happens due to personal commitments and/or lack of quality images/info, but since I’d like to keep all readers & the greater audience informed, I don’t mind sharing recent updates especially when there’s something important that I haven’t covered.

If you’ve got any construction updates/images, then feel free to drop me a message using the ‘Contact Me’ page above 🙂

How high are those piers? BTW, is there any article about the other gaps waiting to be plugged in the Pink/Magenta lines?

They’re about 20m high which is a little shorter than at Dhaula Kuan where the Pink Line passes over the Airport Express Line at a height of 23.6 meters – see images.

I might write a post on Punjabi Bagh as I’m told the viaduct there has just been completed. At Mayapuri, they’ve cleared out the slums and in Oct finished launching a steel bridge over the Indian Railways’ line – see pic. They need to complete building the viaduct on either side of it now.
