CMRL Invites Bids for Chennai Metro’s Wimco Nagar Depot

Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. has invited bids from infrastructure firms for the construction of its second depot at Wimco Nagar to support operations and maintenance work on its 54.1 km Phase 1 network.

The new depot, part of the 9 km Phase 1 extension project in north Chennai, will be used to only clean, wash and house trains overnight at 17 stabling lines, and provide ancillary support to the network’s main depot at Koyambedu where all heavy maintenance work will continue to be carried out. The depot will be elevated and is likely to be supported by stilts similar to Delhi Metro’s Jasola Stabling Yard and the upcoming Noida Stabling Yard.

I’m trying to ascertain who got the contract for that. Once awarded, that work shouldn’t take more than 18 months to be completed for the entire stretch.

That contract clearly escaped my radar. Didn’t hear from anyone or see it being reported in the media either.

From initial research, it appears they got the Toll Gate-Wimco Nagar (3 km) contract for package ECV-103. Now let me check who got ECV-101 and ECV-102 for the actual viaduct.

        Hello TMRG,
I guess this project had been awarded to Gannon Dunkereley company. I wanted to know if they have been blacklisted by CMRL and given to other company on Risk & Cost basis?

Can you please provide me the status of this?
