MMRDA Invites Bids for Mumbai Metro Line-2’s Mandale Depot

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has invited bids from infrastructure firms for the construction of the 41.2 km Line-2’s (Dahisar East – Mandale) second depot at Mandale in the eastern part of the city.

The depot will come up on a 22 hectare vacant land parcel which was previously reserved for residential purposes but changed sometime in mid-2017. Like the first depot, at Malvani in the western suburb of Malad, this depot’s site also lies outside of the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) and doesn’t have any restrictions on construction. In the future, roughly a third of the new 378 coaches (63 trains x 6 coaches) being procured for both Line-2 & Line-7 will be maintained and stabled here.

Will you be tracking and providing updates on the bullet train project (Mumbai-Ahmedabad) as well?

..in this blog or a separate one?

Actively considering it just because it’s an entirely new system, has an urban construction component and will be integrated with metro stations (BKC in Mumbai and Sabarmati in Ahmedabad). If at all I do, I’ll be tracking it here; I don’t have any other sites 🙂

    Hello TMRG,

When are the final contracts to be allotted for the construction of Metro 2 B ( Andheri DN Nagar to Mandale) and when will the construction begin?

They reinvited bids for the DN Nagar – BKC section as one big package. Nothing yet on the rest, so I believe they’re negotiating with the firms to bring down the cost by reducing scope wherever possible.
