RInfra–Astaldi Erect 1st U-Girders for Mumbai Metro Line-4’s CA08/10

Towards the end of January, workers from the Reliance Infrastructure – Astaldi JV erected their first U-girders for packages CA-08 and CA-10 of Mumbai Metro’s 32.32 km Line-4 (Green Line) which will connect Wadala and Kasarvadavali. These milestones at the package level were achieved just a couple days after the team launched their first ever U-girder for package CA-12 in Thane.

Weighing 160 mt, these 28m long U-girders were cast at the firm’s combined casting yard for all 3 packages at Hiranandani Estate in Thane. Since then, their launch has become a regular nightly affair.

Package CA-10 – In the early morning hours of January 26, the first U-girder was placed into position on top of piers 403 and 404 on LBS Road in Chandan Nagar between the Gandhi Nagar and Surya Nagar stations.

This package’s scope includes the viaduct from Gandhi Nagar to Sonapur with 6 stations at Gandhi Nagar, Naval Housing, Bhandup Mahapalika, Shangrila & Sonapur (view route map)

With this development, all 5 civil packages of Line-4 have moved on to the erection stage. Back in December 2019, TPL-CHEC JV erected their first girder for CA-09 (Garodia Nagar to Surya Nagar) in Vikhroli, and for CA-11 (Mulund Fire Station to Majiwada) in Mulund’s Veena Nagar.

Here’s the status of Line-4 from MMRDA’s website as of January 29. Things are moving along quite nicely as they did initially for the 16.5 km Line-7 and 18.6 km Line-2A.
