L&T Wins Delhi-Meerut RRTS’ Package 3 Contract

Larsen & Toubro has emerged as the lowest bidder for constructing the 32 km Duhai (EPE) – Modi Nagar North – Shatabdi Nagar section of the 82.15 km Delhi – Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) line, after officials from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) yesterday opened financial bids.

NCRTC had invited tenders (bids) for Package 3’s civil construction in July 2019 with 2 sub-packages (lots) financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

They estimated construction work of each lot to cost Rs. 860 crore and Rs. 1097 crore respectively. The second lot is the longer one and includes 2 stations at Partapur and Rithani which will also be a part of Meerut’s metro system.

If no issues arise, then in the coming days the NCRTC will go on to assign L&T as the contractor and award them with the line’s 3 & 4th major civil construction contracts.

The contract prior to this were awarded to APCO Infra – CRFG JV and KEC–CCECC JV for the 18 km ‘priority corridor’ section connecting Sahibabad – Ghaziabad – Guldhar – Duhai. Last week, they invited bids for the Sarai Kale Khan – New Ashok Nagar section – the civil package closest to the heart of the city.
