LKT Wins Noida Metro Extension’s DDC Contract
LKT Engineering Consultants Ltd. has emerged as the lowest bidder for the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract of Noida Metro Aqua Line’s 9.605 km extension to Greater Noida Sector-2 after officials from Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) on June 1 opened financial bids submitted by different design engineering firms.
NMRC invited bids for this service under contract NGNDDC in January 2020 with a completion period of 24 months, and opened technical bids on March 4 to reveal a list of 3 bidders.
NMRC’s Estimate: Rs. 2.76 crore
|Rina Consulting S.p.A||Technical bid didn’t qualify; Financial bid not opened|
|LKT Engineering Consultants Ltd.||Rs. 2.18 crore|
|AYESA Ingenieria y Arquitectura, S.A||Rs. 3.55 crore|
Contract NGNDDC: “Engagement of Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) for Civil, Architectural and E & M Works of Noida-Greater Noida Metro Corridor from Sector – 51 Noida to Greater Noida Sector – 2 , consisting of 9.605 Km Viaduct including 5 Elevated Stations”
The appointed firm’s role would include, but is not limited to, producing and proposing alternate designs of all civil, architectural, building services, electrical and mechanical works for the entire section.
The first phase of Noida Metro Aqua Line’s extension consists of 5 elevated stations at Noida Sector 122, Noida Sector 123, Greater Noida Sector 4, Ecotech 12 (Tech Zone) and Greater Noida Sector 2.
LKT Engineering’s bid was 21% below NMRC’s estimate, so if no extraneous issues arise, then they should receive a letter of award (LoA) in the coming weeks. Some of their basic responsibilities include (see more in tender doc) –
a) Producing concept planning and design alternatives of elevated and interchange stations for NMRC’s review.
b) Review of alignment in general and station locations in particular with a view of optimization of neighborhood connectivity and MMI integration; Detailed review of alignment with respect to construction cost optimization and ease of construction and providing alignment drawings for Civil work tenders.

d) Manage the design task for cost, schedule and performance compliance.
e) Preliminary design for stations, viaduct as per project requirement for tendering process.
Tenders for the civil construction of this section were invited on May 28, so things are now moving along quite nicely for this extension.
