J Kumar Casts 1st Pier for Mumbai Metro’s Line-4A in Owale

Back on May 28, J Kumar Infraprojects commenced casting work for the first ever pier of Mumbai Metro’s Line-4A (Green Line) in front of Om Sai Plaza on Ghodbunder Road in Owale, Thane West.

This small 2.88 km northern extension of the 32.32 km Line-4 will connect Kasarvadavali to Gaimukh through new 2 stations at Gowniwada and Gaimukh. Bids for its construction (Package CA54) were invited in March 2019 and J Kumar Infraprojects went on to be appointed as the civil contractor in September 2019 through a contract valued at Rs. 342 crore.

Back in March, follower Viren Nawani had spotted rebar-tying work commencing for the line’s piers.

Casting molds are usually deshuttered (removed) within 3-5 days, so the pier must be ready by now. If someone from J Kumar or MMRDA is reading this or if you live close-by, and have an image of it, then feel free to contact me and I can plug in your image for others to see.

Any updates on the Mira Bhayandar Section on the Red Line?. Which method will be use for tunneling work for Red Line’s Airport Extension, it will be TBM’S or Cut & Cover. But C&C may be too disruptive for making tunnels inside the airport campus. Can you please tell us about that.
