Longjian–KEC Bores Test Pile for Delhi Metro Line-7’s Yamuna Bridge
Workers and engineers from Longjian – KEC JV today bored their first test pile for the construction of a bridge over the Yamuna River as part of the 12.375 km extension of Delhi Metro’s Pink Line (Line-7) between Maujpur and Majlis Park.
From pier P188 to P196, the new Yamuna Bridge (Delhi Metro’s 5th) is planned to be 560 meters long and was approved for construction by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in January 2020. Test piling work today began north of Delhi’s Signature Bridge at Wazirabad at 4:30 pm during which a piling rig bored vertically to a depth of 29 meters.
Longjian – KEC JV was awarded Delhi Metro Phase 4’s second contract for Package DC-02 (Maujpur – Sonia Vihar – Majlis Park) in November 2019 with a contract value of Rs. 1,080 crore and completion period of 30 months.
Their scope of work includes building the line’s 12.375 km viaduct, bridge over the Yamuna River, a PWD double-decker flyover and 8 stations at Yamuna Vihar, Bhajanpura, Khajuri Khas, Sonia Vihar, Wazirabad Surghat, Jagatpur Village, Jharoda Majra and Burari.
