L&T Lowers 1st MSV for Bangalore Metro’s Tunneling at Cantt Station

Last week, Larsen & Toubro lowered the first of six multi-service vehicles (MSVs) into Cantonment Station to assist with tunneling works on the 21.386 km Line-4 (Reach 6 / Pink Line) of the 73.92 km Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project.

The MSV was manufactured by Qinhuangdao Tianye Tolian Heavy Industry Co. Ltd., and completed factory acceptance tests (FAT) in February 2020. Each MSV has a capacity of hauling 25 tons and their primary goal will be to support underground logistics – to transport tunnel ring segments from the bottom of the TBM launch shafts to the rear of the TBMs for ring building.

The MSVs deployed at Cantonment Station on the 2.884 km package RT-03 (Shivajinagar Station – Tannery Road) will support TBMs Urja and Vindhya when they commence tunneling works in the coming months for building the first 860m twin tunnels towards Shivajinagar Station.

Can’t the Indian manufacturers make those trucks? Why do we have to import even these?
