Why 750 V DC traction is being used here instead of 25 KV AC ?

Do you know the advantages of DC traction over AC . If you knew then you would not have raised such question .

Manoj – let’s be a little gentle and kind, please?

Himanshu – Kanpur has a significant UG section, so could be to lower tunneling costs, or purely aesthetic reasons, or reliability? OHE requires more maintenance.

I was surprised when the tender notice was published since Lucknow is AC powered through OHE. Thought they’d continue with the same technical specs.

          Thanks man.
Aesthetic wise and maintenance wise it does makes sense to go for DC traction, DMRC loses plenty of money due to delays caused by OHE wires breaking, Panto blast due to arcing. But in the field of scalability and maintenance of Traction motors of Rolling Stock, AC gains an upper hand. All now would depend upon those trains from bombardier.
