5 Bidders for Delhi – Meerut RRTS’ Escalators & Elevators

In September-end, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) received a total of 8 bids from 5 firms for supplying and installing Escalators (Package 21) and Elevators (Package 22) at 22 stations of the under construction 82.15 km Delhi – Meerut RRTS Line.

These two tenders are among the last few major systems-related contracts that need to be tendered out for installation on this semi high-speed rail line where Bombardier trains (see design released last week) will run at a top speed of 160 kmph.

NCRTC had invited invited tenders (bids) for both packages in July 2020 funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). They estimate them to cost $23.73 million (approx. Rs. 174.23 crore) and $8.75 million (approx. Rs 64.15 crore), and expect the assigned contractors to finish work in 1550 days (3.35 years) from when the contract is awarded.

The bids for both have now been sent for technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor for each.

Back in July, NCRTC also invited bids for the commissioning of the line’s Environment Control System (ECS) and Tunnel Ventilation System (TVS) in the underground sections of Package 4 (New Ashok Nagar – Anand Vihar – Sahibabad Ramp) and Package 8 (Brahmapuri Ramp – Begumpul Ramp). The last date to submit bids for that is coming up on October 12.

A list of all packages (civil & systems) and their status can be viewed here.
