3 Bidders for Indore Metro Package IN-02’s Construction

3 construction firms have submitted bids to build 7 elevated stations between ISBT/MR10 Flyover and Radisson Square on Indore Metro’s 33.53 km Yellow Line, after Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation opened technical bids today.

The viaduct connecting these 7 stations of Indore Metro’s Phase 1 project is currently under construction by Dilip Buildcon at an excruciating slow pace since 2018. This first section of the project along with others will eventually form a ring line around Indore city connecting Palasia – Railway Station – Rajwara- Airport – Bhawarsala via 30 elevated stations.

MPMRCL invited tenders for this package’s construction in February with a Rs. 369 crore estimate and 847 days (2.32 years) deadline.

Bidders:

  • Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL)
  • URC Construction (URCC)
  • YFC Projects

Tender No: 200/MPMRCL/2021/Package IN-02

Package: IN-02

Brief Scope: Design and Construction of Seven (7) Elevated Metro Rail Stations including Viaduct portion within the stations and Transition spans on either side of the stations, Entry-Exit Structures, Architectural Finishes, E&M Works etc. (ISBT/MR10 Flyover, Chandragupta Square, Hira Nagar, Bapat Square, Meghdoot Garden, Vijay Nagar Square & Radisson Square) of Indore Metro Rail Project.

The bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor for its construction.

This package will be funded through equity contribution of Government of India (GoI) and Government of Madhya Pradesh (GoMP), and not by Asian Development Bank (ADB) or New Development Bank (NDB) – the lenders of the project. Station names are tentative and are likely to undergo change when this section opens, which I currently expect would happen no sooner than 2027.
