4 Bidders for Chennai Metro Line-4’s Track Work Contract
Four firms in mid-October submitted bids to supply and install standard gauge tracks for Chennai Metro’s 26.09 km Line-4 which will connect Light House – Poonamallee Bypass through 30 stations.
The scope of this Phase 2 contract includes track installation work at the 16 km elevated section (Poonamallee Bypass – Power House Ramp), 10 km underground section (Power House Ramp – Light House), and also inside Poonamallee Depot which was awarded for construction to Altis – VCL JV in October.
CMRL invited tenders for this systems contract in May 2021 with a 1610 day (4.4 year) completion deadline and an unknown estimate.

Package: C4-TRK-01
Brief Scope: Supply, installation,testing and commissioning of track works of standard gauge including all associated works in Underground and Elevated sections between Light House Station and Poonamalle Bypass Station and Poonamalle Depot in Corridor-4 of Chennai Metro Rail Project- Phase-2.
The bids are currently under technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.
This is Line-4’s second major systems package after the rolling stock tender (Package ARE03) which received 3 bids from Alstom, BEML & Titagarh in September.
