BARSYL & LIPL Bid for Noida Metro Extension’s OHE Design

Balaji Railroad Systems Pvt. Ltd and Leap Infraasys Pvt. Ltd are the only two bidders for providing Detailed Design Consultancy services for the 25 kV Overhead Equipment (OHE) system of Noida Metro Aqua Line’s 14.95 km extension (Sector 51 to Knowledge Park V).

After canceling the original tender in April, Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) re-invited tenders for this contract in May with a Rs. 43.78 lakh estimate and a 910 day (2.5 year) deadline.

NMRC’s Brief Scope: Detailed Design Consultancy for Design of 25 kV Overhead Equipment (OHE) system and Power Supply – SCADA for Elevated Line of Aqua line extension Corridor of Noida Metro Rail Project

Both firms’ bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely consultant.

GR Infraprojects Ltd. (GRIL) had emerged as the lowest bidder for the civil construction of this line in December 2021, but a contract to them has not yet been awarded to my knowledge as NMRC is awaiting the Central Government’s approval.

Their 9.605 km package connecting Noida Sector-51 to Greater Noida West’s Sector-2 consists of 5 elevated stations at Noida Sector 122, Noida Sector 123, Greater Noida Sector 4, Ecotech 12 (Tech Zone) and Greater Noida Sector 2.

What? Only 5 stations on 9.6 km route? Isn’t that station spacing too wide.

Any update? Probably, this is the most long awaited metro stretch in the country, in the sense that the talks of this stretch have been going on from 2011 or so and still it is not started or even finalized. Noida metro leadership is most pathetic metro leadership in the country, if not in the world. This is what happens when we have incompetent people in the system. I mean how can a person, who is the chief of a civic body (CEO Noida) can also be the head of a public transport body. I mean both are full time jobs and need different types of expertise.
