1st Crossover Cast for Bangalore Metro’s Yellow Line

Texmaco Rail and Engineering last week completed casting the 1st track crossover for Bangalore Metro’s 19.143 km Yellow Line (Reach-5) which will connect RV Road – Bommasandra through 16 elevated stations.

The crossover is located between pier numbers 268-271 in between Hongasandra Station (formerly Oxford Station) Station and Kudlu Gate Station (formerly Muneshwara Nagar Station).

The crossovers and turnouts will enable the system’s BEML (and in the future CRRC if their contract is not terminated) trains to guide from one track line to another when this line opens up, which I reckon will not happen before Q4 2023.

Texmaco’s scope for this line’s track-work includes 20 turnouts (10 crossovers) of 1in9 type and 7 turnouts (3 crossovers & 1 turnout) of 1in7 type.

The 1st crossover lies on Reach-5’s Package-2 of the 73.92 km Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project. Its viaduct was completed by ITD Cementation in April 2021 – see images of the last segment getting launched here.

A proposal to extend this line to Hosur, TN by approximately 20.5 km was approved by Karnataka’s government last week. This sets the ball rolling for its feasibility study and eventually Detailed Project Report (DPR) to be created which depends on the Tamil Nadu government. Whether it gets included in Phase 3 plans or not remains to be seen. Still early days!

Beml-Rotem trains can’t be run on the yellow line bcos they r not compatible with cbtc signalling..
If crrc order gets cancelled, trains for that line will come from bmrcl’s 72 cars tender

BEML knows to make CBTC trains dude. Delhi’s Magenta, Pink and Grey line trains run on CBTC only

Beml knows to make..but does it have the order..? Order is given to crrc…if crrc backs out whoever wins 72 cars tender they will supply trains for that line

Without putting a Huge tender for a Mere 72 coaches in Freaking **243 Weeks** , BMRCL should Blindly ask BEML to make Yellow Line coaches..

Mostly crrc will continue with the order..they are tying up with Titagarh for local manufacturing of coaches

It will lead to huge Delays. Blindly go to BEML. Don’t want CRRC

Tying up and manufacturing will lead to huge Delays. Blindly go to BEML better. No CRRC and all..

      They run on CBTC only

Those trains are made by BEML and Neither CRRC Nor Alstom has made these rakes

By Q4 2023, do you mean Jan to Mar 2024? I thought there was a plan for Bommasandra to Silk stretch to be opened by June 2023

Bommasandra to Silk board will open soon in May-Jun 2023. Only the Silk Board to RV Road part will happen later.

Bommasandra to silk board will open only if crrc order continues and they supply trains..or else it will be 2024

Almost no point in opening just this portion of line. We already have a flyover and a decent highway till silk Board.

It will be worth using (for most people) only after rest of the section opens and there’s connectivity to reach city. So, even if they do inaugurate it’s just a token.

IMO, Beauty of Blore has gone no where. A metro is much required and much delayed project (every meter of Metro connectivity helps). Not sure about them spoiling roads too – long term. Short term pain is inevitable.
