1st Delhi – Meerut RRTS Train by Alstom Arrives at Duhai Depot

National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on Monday received their first of 30 Alstom semi high-speed regional trains at Duhai Depot for the 82.5 km Delhi – Ghaziabad – Meerut RRTS project.

The aerodynamic train has a stainless steel body with a design speed of 180 kmph. It is planned to be operated at a speed of 160 kmph and average speed of 100 kmph to reduce the travel time between Delhi and Meerut by 40%.

The train was designed at Alstom’s Hyderabad Engineering Centre, and manufactured in Maneja, Gujarat (systems & electrical) and Savli, Gujarat.

The first train-set rolled out at the Savli plant in early-May – see details, train features and images from inside & outside here. Its 6 coaches were then loaded and flagged off for delivery on June 2.

Additional images can be viewed on NCRTC’s Twitter handle here.

The coaches now be assembled/coupled for static and dynamic tests at Duhai Depot’s test-track.

Here’s a cool video with some drone views shot by RSLive on YouTube:

As shared in the past – NCRTC hopes to start trial runs by the end of the year. That of course depends on the completion of Package 2’s viaduct by APCO – CRFG JV, station and systems work along the way. Package 1’s viaduct was completed by KEC in April.
