5 Bidders for Chennai Metro Line-4’s E&M Contract

June 28 Original Post: 5 firms have submitted bids for electrical & mechanical works at Chennai Metro’s 26.09 km Line-4 which will connect Light House – Poonamallee Bypass through 30 stations after Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) opened technical bids last week.

The scope of this Chennai Metro Phase 2 system contract includes work at the 16 km elevated section’s 18 stations and viaduct between Poonamallee Bypass – Power House Ramp. This corridor is under construction by HCC-KEC JV (Package C4-ECV-02) and Larsen & Toubro (Package C4-ECV-01).

CMRL invited tenders for this systems contract, financed by AIIB and ADB, in January 2022 with an unknown estimate and 1690 (4.6 year) deadline.

Brief Scope: Supply, installation, testing, commissioning and training of Electrical, Fire protection and VAC works for 18 Elevated stations from Power House Station to Poonamallee Bypass station including Viaduct between the stations (Ch 10027.102 to Ch 25928.186), approach ramp, including Poonamallee Depot for Corridor 4 of Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase-II

All 5 bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely supplier.

This E&M package is among the last few pending packages for Line-4 where all 5 civil contracts have been awarded with financial bids having been opened for major system contracts such as rolling stock and electrification.
