Tata Launches Pune Metro Line-3’s 1st Segment at Hinjewadi

Workers from Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd. (PITCMRL) on Friday launched the first box segment in Hinjawadi for the viaduct of Pune Metro’s 23.3 km Line-3 which will connect Megapolis Circle with Civil Court in Shivajinagar.

The 1st segment weighing 46 MT was cast at Tathewada in February 2022. It’s 8.5m wide and was placed at a height of 11m between Hinjewadi Stations number 1 and 2 located near Helipad Circle.

The city’s new Line-3 with 23 elevated stations is being developed by PMRDA on PPP mode through a 35 year concession agreement signed with Tata’s TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH (TRIL UTPL + SPVG).

Tata Projects Ltd (TPL) is responsible for the line’s civil construction work and its workers in February began tying rebar for piers at multiple sites in Hinjawadi and opposite E-Square near Pune University.

As shared earlier – by back of the hand calculations, I estimate approximately 7200-7500 segments being cast for this new line’s superstructure.

Just last week, NCC completed launching the final of approximately 2600 segments for Pune Metro Line-2’s Reach 2 – see pics and details.
