7 Bidders for Surat Metro’s Electrification Contract EP-1

7 firms (3 in a consortia) have submitted bids for the 750 V DC Third Rail electrification system of Surat Metro Phase 1 project after Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) opened technical bids on Thursday.

Surat’s 40.35 km Phase 1 consists of two lines with 37 stations. Financial bids for the final civil packages were opened earlier this summer, with Line-1’s 11.6 km Dream City Depot – Kadarsha ni Nal section taken up on priority.

GMRC invited tenders for this major systems contract, financed by Agence française de développement (AFD), in February 2022 with an unknown estimate and deadline.

The bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.
