Ranjit Buildcon Wins Surat Metro Line-1 Package CS4’s Work

Ranjit Buildcon Ltd. (RBL) on Saturday emerged as the lowest bidder to construct the 4.15 km Sarthana – North Ramp section of Surat Metro’s 22.77 km Line-1 connecting Sarthana – Dream City.

Package CS-4 is the 4th and final section of Surat’s 22.77 km Line-1 which will connect Sarthana – Dream City via 20 stations. It’ll comprise of 4 elevated stations at Sarthana, Nature Park, Varaccha Chopati Garden and Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Kalakunj in the north-east part of the city.

GMRC invited tenders for its construction in February with a Rs. 286 crore estimate and unknown deadline. Technical bids were opened in May to reveal 8 bidders.

Scope: Construction of 4.15 km (ch. -450 to ch. 3700) elevated viaduct dead end of Sarthana station to end of UG ramp including 4 stations (Excl. E&M, Architectural finishing and Roofing) for Surat Metro Rail Project Phase – 1, Corridor-1

RBL’s bid of Rs. 384.47 crore was significantly higher (34.43%) than GMRC’s estimate, so I see this heading to the negotiating table. If a significant price reduction is not made – typically by reduction in scope – then it’ll be retendered which will likely be the case.

With this development and Package CS6’s opening (where DBL is L1), financial bids for all civil packages of the main-line have now been opened. A list of all Surat Metro Phase 1 packages and their status/contractors can be viewed here.

      Depends on when the Delhi and Central govts approve its DPR. Unlike Delhi-Alwar RRTS, no detailed design work or geotechnical work has even started.

      So easily not before 2025.

      Comes under Package CS1 (awarded to Sadbhav Engineering – SP Singla Construction JV and subcontracted to Patel Infra)
