Dilip Buildcon Wins Surat Metro Line-2 Package CS6’s Work

December 4, 2022: Dilip Buildcon has been issued LOA by GMRC for Package CS-6’s construction with a contract value of Rs. 702 crore

July 3, 2022 Original Post: Dilip Buildcon Ltd. (DBL) on Saturday emerged as the lowest bidder to construct the 8.702 km Package CS-6 of Surat Metro’s 19.26 km Line-2 connecting Bhesan – Saroli.

This section of the 40.35 km Surat Metro Phase 1 project in east Surat will connect Majura Gate – Saroli via 7 elevated stations.

Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) invited tenders for its construction in February 2022, financed by KfW Bankengruppe, with an estimated value of Rs. 591 crore and undisclosed deadline. Technical bids were opened in May to reveal 9 bidders.

Brief Scope: Construction of 8.702 kms elevated viaduct and 7 nos. stations (Excl. E&M, Architectural Finishing and Roofing) from Majura Gate (Ch. 9090 m) to Saroli Dead End (Ch. 17791.851 m) under Corridor-2 in connection with Surat Metro Rail Project Phase – 1

The 7 elevated stations en route will be built at Udhna Dawaja, Kamela Darwaja, Anjana Farm, Model Town, Magob, Bharat Cancer Hospital and Saroli.

Construction of Majura Gate Interchange Station is part of Package CS1’s scope, which was awarded in January 2021 to Sadbhav Engineering – SP Singla Constructions JV.

DBL’s bid of Rs. 702 crore was significantly higher (18.79%) than GMRC’s estimate, so I see this heading to the negotiating table. If no breakthrough is made, then we’ll see a retender of this section which I hope doesn’t happen in the interest of time.

With this development and Package CS4’s opening (where Ranjit Buildcon is L1), financial bids for all civil packages of the main-line have now been opened. A list of all Surat Metro Phase 1 packages and their status/contractors can be viewed here.
