Paras Awarded Delhi Metro Pink Line Extension’s Track Work

Paras Railtech Pvt. Ltd. this week was awarded a Rs. 67.67 crore contract to supply and install standard gauge tracks for Delhi Metro’s Pink Line (Line-7) by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

The city’s Pink Line is being extended in the Delhi Metro Phase 4 project by 12.375 km between Maujpur and Majlis Park by Longjian – KEC JV. They were awarded its Rs. 1,080 crore civil construction contract for Package DC-02 in November 2019 with a completion deadline of 30 months.

DMRC invited tenders for its track-work contract, financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in May 2022 with an unknown estimate and 730 day (2 year) deadline. Technical bids were opened in July to reveal 3 bidders – Paras Railtech, Apurvakriti Infrastructure and Rahee Infratech

Brief Scope: Installation, testing, and commissioning of ballastless track including supply of fastening system, buffer stop, and others for Line-7 ext (Maujpur-Majlis Park) (CH. 0.0M TO CH. 12098.520 M) of Delhi MRTS Project of Phase-IV.

This extension includes a 12.375 km viaduct, bridge over the Yamuna River, a PWD double-decker flyover and 8 stations at Yamuna Vihar, Bhajanpura, Khajuri Khas, Sonia Vihar, Wazirabad Surghat, Jagatpur Village, Jharoda Majra and Burari.

Back in March 2022, Longjian – KEC JV launched their first cantilever construction (CLC) gantry for the Pink Line’s new 560 meter bridge over the Yamuna River – see details & pictures.

I see this extension becoming the first of 3 corridors in the 65.1 km Phase 4 project to be inaugurated which I reckon will happen no sooner than Q4 2024.

I was hoping that track work contract should have been awarded by now considering the civil works is around 50% complete.
