KSM Awarded Delhi-Meerut RRTS Modipuram Depot’s Contract

The final civil contractor of the 82.15 km Delhi – Meerut RRTS project is now known to me. KSM Bashir Mohammad & Sons on December 28 was awarded a Rs. 265.71 crore contract for the construction of Modipuram Depot & Workshop (Package 5B).

Modipuram Depot’s site lies on a 34.94 hectare land parcel on the northern-end of Delhi NCR’s first semi high-speed line. It’s been designed to stable 20 x 9-coach Alstom RRTS trains and 36 x 3 coach Alstom MRTS trains for local Meerut Metro services on a 20 km route between Partapur – Modipuram.

National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) had invited tenders for this depot’s construction in October 2021 with a 700 day completion period and unknown estimate. Technical bids were opened in January 2022 to reveal 4 bidders and financial bids were opened in April 2022.

Here’s a copy of the Letter of Award (LOA):

Brief Scope of Package 5B: Construction of Depot cum Workshop buildings for Modipuram Depot (including Architectural Finishing, PEB, E AND M and Road works) of Delhi – Ghaziabad – Meerut RRTS Corridor.

KSM in 2021 had wrapped up work on Kanpur Metro’s Polytechnic Depot in record time and is currently working on Indore Metro’s Gandhi Nagar Depot, so I hope to see some of that momentum getting carried forward at Modipuram.

Long distance RRTS train operations will primary be supported by Duhai Depot (Package 5A) under construction in Ghaziabad District by KEC-VNC JV and a small staling yard at Jangpura in Delhi.
