Bids Invited for Agra Metro Line-2’s AGCC-06 Elevated Contract

October 18 2023 Update: Tender has been cancelled by UPMRC without offering a reason.

February 15 2023 Original Post: Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) on Tuesday invited tenders for the 1st civil construction contract of Agra Metro Phase 1’s 15.40 km Line-2 which will connect Agra Cantonment and Kalindi Vihar via 15 stations.

Package AGCC-02’s viaduct will connect Agra Cantonment Station with Sanjay Place via 7 elevated stations at Agra Cantt, Sadar Bazar, Pratap Pura, Collectorate, Agra College, Hariparvat Chauraha and Sanjay Place. I estimate it to be approximately 6.8 km long end to end.

At Agra College Station users will be able to interchange and switch over to the city’s 14.25 km Line-1 (Sikandra – Taj East Gate) where an underground station is under construction by Afcons – SAM India JV as part of Package AGCC-02.

Looking at the tender’s scope, a station planned at Subhash Park is no longer in the works. UPMRC has instead added a new station at Hariparvat Chauraha.

Package: AGCC-06

Brief Scope: Construction of elevated viaduct and 07 Nos. elevated stations (viz. Agra Cantt, Sadar Bazar, Pratap Pura, Collectorate, Agra College, Hariparvat chauraha and Sanjay Place metro stations) including Civil, Architectural Finishes, Water Supply, Sanitary Installation, Drainage, External Development, Fire Fighting, Fire Detection, E&M works and PEB structures of Corridor2 of Agra Metro at Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India.

  • Deadline: 30 months
  • Estimated Cost: Rs. 696.53 Crore
  • Bid Submission Deadline: April 12 at 3 PM
  • Technical Bid Opening: April 13 at 3 PM

This contract will be financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB) through a €450 million loan approved in December 2021.

SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India) in May 2022 was awarded this line and Kanpur Metro Line-2’s Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract.

This is the 1st of 3 civil packages of the city’s Line-2 which’ll run entirely elevated. The other main-line civil package from Sanjay Place to Kalindi Vihar will involve the construction of an elevated viaduct with 7 stations. The 3rd and final package will be for Kalindi Vihar Depot’s work.

Overall, this is the 4th civil package of the 29.40 km Agra Metro Phase 1 project to enter the bidding stage. See a list of all Phase 1 packages (civil & systems) and their status over here.

This will be very bad decision UPMRC is taking. Subhash Park station would have served most populated areas such as Dhakran, Ashok Nagar, Gokulpur , Shahganj, Jaipur House which is now ignore for unknown reason. Stations location have also been altered.
