Egis Wins Kochi Metro Phase 2’s Detailed Design Consultant Contract

Egis Rail earlier this month was declared as the lowest bidder for Kochi Metro Phase 2’s Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract of station components.

This consultancy contract is the third significant pre-construction contract for Kochi’s Phase 2 which will feature a 11.2 km new elevated corridor, named Pink Line, with 11 stations connecting JLN Stadium – Kakkanad – Infopark (Smart City).

KMRL had invited tenders for this contract in February 2023 and expects the assigned DDC to be onboard for 900 days (2.46 years).

Technical bids were opened in March to reveal 6 bidders. During evaluation, bids from AYESA Ingenieria y Arquitectura and TD Engineering and Consulting were disqualified as they were technically non-compliant to the tender’s conditions.

KMRL’s estimate remains unknown to me, so I can’t provide an assessment on the chances of a contract getting awarded at this time.

If awarded, Egis will be responsible for producing and proposing alternate designs of all civil, architectural, building services, electrical and mechanical works.

Back in March, KMRL cancelled the General Consultant tender after the winning bidder – SYSTRA – placed a bid significantly higher (59%) than KMRL’s estimate. Earlier this month, KMRL received 3 bids for the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract of its electrification system.

    Hi TMRG

Yesterday a very important meeting for Indore metro took place. The alignment of the 9 km underground section was finalised after some resistance from local shipowners and some politicians. They have also assured that tenders for underground section will be floated in a few months.

Also, there was in principal approval to conduct surveys for metro line from Indore to ujjain and Indore to pithampur.

Of this i am more confident of ujjain section happening in a few years before the next kumbh Mela scheduled for 2028. Plus this section will be very easy to connect to the current yellow line at gandhinagar station. Depot land should also not be an issue on this route. Hoping for the best. Cheers

Cool, thanks for the update! Indore to Ujjain is better off being served with a RRTS line, don’t you think?

Yes. I think RRTS is the inspiration for this.
Somebody i know said that dmrc will do a preliminary survey and RRTS type system is preferable but nothing official on that.
