KTK Awarded Delhi Metro Phase 4’s Platform Screen Door Contract

KTG Group Co. Ltd. was last week awarded a Rs. 236.25 crore contract (Package DS-08) by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to install Platform Screen Doors across 3 lines of Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 project.

Delhi’s 65.1 km Phase 4 is well under construction and includes 1 new line (23.62 km Silver Line: Aerocity-Tughlakabad) and the extension of the Magenta Line (28.92 km Janakpuri West – R.K.Ashram) and Pink Line (12.58 km Mukundpur – Maujpur).

Half height PSDs will be installed at 27 elevated stations across all 3 lines, while full height PSDs will be installed at 18 underground stations across the silver and magenta lines – see list of stations.

Final Contract Value: INR 74,24,79,000 + USD 1,96,32,000

DMRC had invited tenders for this contract (Package DS-08) in September 2022 with a 1095 day (3 year) deadline. Technical bids were opened in December 2022 to reveal 4 bidders. During evaluation, Fangda Innotech Co. Ltd. and ST Engineering Electronics Ltd were found non compliant to the tender conditions.

Financial bids of the rest 2 firms (KTK Group Co. and Nanjing Kangnin Mechanical & Electrical Co.) were opened in July 2023 to reveal KTK as the lowest bidder, just narrowly beating Nanjing Kangni.

Besides phase-4 DMRC should consider installing them at all stations considering it has become a norm among best MRTS systems

Indian firms add 40% extra top-up on the bid value because from designer to contractor to EPC everyone wants to make money in government projects… which Chinese firms don’t do.. their bid prices are low.

In past Indian firms used to outsource these contracts to Chinese firms thus they now govt is directly awarding contract to them.
