RVNL & YFC Bid for Nagpur Metro Phase 2’s C-06 & C-08 Contracts

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and YFC Projects – BBG Infrastructure JV last week emerged as the only two bidders to construct packages C6 and C8 of the 43.8 km Nagpur Metro Phase 2 project.

These civil construction contracts by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MAHA-METRO) involve construction of a total of 16 elevated stations across Reach 2B, 3A and 4A. The construction of an elevated viaduct between these stations will be carried out via separate packages – see list.

MahaMetro had invited bids for both contracts in January-February 2024 with a 900 day (2.5 year) deadline.

Package C-06’s estimate is Rs. 307.34 crore and scope includes 7 elevated metro stations of the Aqua Line’s western extension (Reach 3A) named Hingna Mount View, Rajiv Nagar, Wanadongri, APMC, Raipur, Hingna Bus Station, Hingna, and 3 stations of the Aqua Line’s eastern extension (Reach 4A) named Pardi, Kapsi Khurd and Transport Nagar.

Package C-08’s estimate is Rs. 203.75 crore and scope includes 6 elevated metro stations of the Orange Line’s northern extension (Reach 2B) named Cantonment, Kamptee Police Station, Kamptee Municipal Council, Dragon Palace, Golf Club and Kanhan River Metro Station.

The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.

RVNL in 2023 was awarded packages C-01 & C-05 which they’ve subcontracted out to other infrastructure developers. YFC Projects from Gurgaon is a new entrant to Nagpur, and earlier this year they were awarded a Rs. 59.30 crore contract in a JV with BBG by MahaMetro to construct a pedestrian subway at Nagpur’s Zero Mile across old NH-7.
