Afcons Launches Kanpur Metro’s Steel Girders over Sisamau Drain

Afcons Infrastructure last week erected two 45 meter long steel composite box girders over Sisamau Drain (Nala) for constructing Kanpur Metro’s 23.785 km Line-1 between IIT Kanpur and Motijheel.

These girders link Kanpur Metro Phase 1 project’s operational 8.7 km elevated Priority Section (IIT Kanpur – Moti Jheel) with the line’s 8.6 km under construction underground section (Chunniganj – Nayaganj – Transport Nagar) being built under packages KNPCC-05 & KNPCC-06.

Afcons’ team in the past used 28 & 25 meter long U-girders to build the 8.728 km priority corridor’s viaduct, but the drain’s width required longer durable steel girders to be launched. The drain is located on the eastern edge of Package KNPCC-02(R) leading up to MacRobertganj Ramp – view on Google Maps.

Back in April 2021, Afcons had erected another two 45 meter steel girders for Kanpur Metro at Rawatpur Tiraha – see details and pics.
