VMCPL Wins Kunkeshwar & Kalbadevi Bridges’ Contracts in Maharashtra

Vijay M Mistry Construction Pvt. Ltd. (VMCPL) on Friday was declared as the lowest bidder for the civil construction of two new bridges at Kunkeshwar and Kalbadevi on EPC mode in western Maharashtra.

Both bridges on Maharashtra State Highway SH-4 (Revas – Reddi Coastal Highway) are part of a series of at least 8 new bridges being built by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) across creeks and rivers to cut down driving times between towns along the Arabian Sea.

MSRDC had invited bids for both bridges’ construction in March 2024 with a 3 year construction deadline. Technical bids were opened on May 15 to reveal 3 bidders for Kunkeshwar Bridge’s contract and 2 bidders for Kalbadevi Bridge’s contract.

Kunkeshwar Bridge

1.6 km Kunkeshwar Bridge will come up right in front of Kunkeshwar Temple in Sindhudurg District (view on Google Maps). It includes a 330 meter long “iconic” bridge component with a 165m long main span.

Kalbadevi Bridge

1.8 km long Kalbadevi Bridge with 2 lanes will connect Kalbadevi Beach and Sadamirya over Kalbadevi Creek in Ratnagiri District (view on Google Maps)

Vijay M Mistry’s bids of Rs. 187.53 crore for Kunkeshwar Bridge and Rs. 353.32 crore for Kalbadevi Bridge were 18.18% and 21.15% higher than MSRDC’s estimates, so unless MSRDC meets their bid or comes close through negotiations then both will head to a second round of bidding.
