6 Bidders for Nagpur Metro Phase 2’s Package C-02

Six civil engineering firms have submitted bids to construct Package C2 of the 43.8 km Nagpur Metro Phase 2 project after Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MAHA-METRO) opened technical bids on Thursday.

The scope of Package C-02 purely involves construction of a 17.624 km viaduct within Nagpur Metro Orange Line’s 18.7 km Reach 1A connecting Khapri – Butibori MIDC ESR. The construction of 8 elevated metro stations en route between Jamtha and Butibori will be carried out via a dedicated station package C-09.

Reach 1A’s viaduct along NH-44 will consist of two special spans over the Indian Railways lines with lengths of 79m and 100m, and a 1.14 km long 6 lane double-decker section for vehicles (level 1) and CRRC metro trains (level 2).

MahaMetro had invited bids for Package C-2’s construction in March 2024 with a Rs. 945 crore estimate and 912 day (2.5 year) construction deadline.

Maha-Metro’s Brief Scope: Design and construction of elevated metro viaduct of length 17.624 km between ch.21256.814 to ch.38881.7 including railway spans of length 79m & 100m and 6-lane double-decker portion with vehicular underpass (vup) from ch. 25755.211 to 26895.211 for a total length of 1.14km in Reach-1A of NMRP Phase-2

The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.

Reach 1A’s 8 metro stations will be constructed at Ashokvan, Dongargaon, Mohgaon, Meghdoot MIDC, Butibori Police Station, MHADA Colony, MIDC KEC and MIDC ESR.

Bidding is underway for their construction via Package C-09 and technical bids are currently planned to be opened on July 4. Back in April, Enia Design was declared as the lowest bidder for their Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract DDC-03.
