KSM Wins UPMRC Metro Bhawan’s Construction Contract LKCC-15

KSM Bashir Mohammad and Sons on Monday was declared as the lowest bidder to construct Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC)’s new Metro Bhawan headquarters in Lucknow under Package LKCC-15.

UPMRC is currently headquartered at a small 3 storey building in Ambedkar Park. With 3 operational metro systems (LucknowKanpur & Agra) and more in the pipeline, the operator needed more office space and will be will be moving into a brand new building located near Lucknow Metro’s Sachivalaya Station.

The new headquarters will also house Lucknow Metro’s Operational Control Centre (OCC) to manage train operations on 22.8 km Line-1 connecting Lucknow CCS Airport – Munshi Pulia.

UPMRC had invited bids for the building’s construction in March 2024 with a Rs. 120.80 crore estimate and 600 day deadline. Technical bids were opened on May 29 to reveal 3 bidders.

KSM’s bid of Rs. 101.79 crore was well below UPMRC’s estimate of Rs. 120.80 crore so a contract should be awarded in the coming weeks without a long financial bid evaluation period.

KSM Bashir Mohammad and Sons has extensive experience in building metro rail depots. They had built Kanpur Metro Line-1’s Polytechnic Depot and were awarded Line-2’s Agriculture University Depot’s contract in March 2024. They’re also currently building 82 km Delhi – Meerut RRTS project’s Modipuram Depot.
