6th OWG for Mumbai – Ahmedabad Bullet Train Launched over WDFC near Surat
M G Contractors Pvt. Ltd. (MGCPL) on Friday completed launching their sixth open web girder (OWG) bridge for the 508.17 Mumbai – Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR Bullet Train) project.
This 100 meter long steel bridge for GAD-12 on MAHSR’s Package P1(B) was slowly pushed into position across both the Baroda – Surat line of the Western Railways and Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) in Gujarat using using multiple rollers and hydraulic jacks.
The exact launch site is located between Sayan and Kim, just north of Surat (view on Google Maps) between MAHSR’s chainage KM 285+927m and 286+007m.
The 12.5m tall & 14.3 wide bridge weighs approximately 2000 MT. A temporary launching nose was connected with the main bridge to assist with launching which was completed in 2 days utilizing mega traffic and power blocks, ensuring minimal disruption to regular train services.

The steel bridge along with launching nose were assembled near the site at a height of 14.5 m from the ground on temporary trestles and was pulled with automatic mechanism of 2 number of semi-automatic jacks, each of capacity of 250 ton using mac-alloy bars.

India’s National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) had awarded M G Contractors with bridge Package P-1(B)‘s Rs. 549.67 crore contract in September 2021.
P1B’s scope involves the launch of 4 PSC bridges and 7 steel truss bridges within 237.1 km civil Package C-4 (Vadodara – Zaroli) which is under construction by Larsen & Toubro.

Bro you wanted the location of GAD-1441. GAD-1441 is near end of Surat District at Chainage 297 Km from Mumbai. GAD-1441 is being build to cross over the E-Way. We may get update of that anytime now it might be completed by now.
Cool thanks!
P1(A) Scope absorbed into Civil packages? Asking this because bids for that still not invited.
Not confirmed but that appears to be the case since L&T just started casting box segments for GAD-595 (balanced cantilever bridge)
Yes. Scope of P1(A) is absorbed into Civil package which was awarded to L&T.
